DVD’s
Although
many of our titles were originally released on VHS format, all new
releases since 2003 have also been available on DVD. Those issued from
the start of 2006 have been on DVD only. Having received numerous
enquiries and requests to re-release our VHS back catalogue on DVD, we
have now made a start on re-issuing selected titles. Although this will
take several years to do, we do not intend to re-release all our old
programmes on DVD. Those that receive the most requests will be the ones
that see the light of day on DVD. These older programmes are being
digitally re-mastered and thus will have superior picture quality (and
in some cases longer running times) compared to the original VHS
versions.
On
a general point, please note that all our DVD's have interactive menus
with scene selection, so you can easily locate particular points in the
programme. As a guide, the ‘Traction’ series menus are
divided into months, while our ‘Wired for Sound’ cab-ride
menus allow you to access particular points of the journey.
On
a technical point - and this is something we are frequently asked about
- the majority of our discs have been 'pressed'. This
means that every DVD machine can play them, which isn't always the case
with discs that are 'burnt'. Hence, our ‘pressed’
discs should ensure that there are no compatibility problems between our
discs and your DVD player.
