About Locomaster Profiles
Locomaster
Profiles have been producing specialist modern traction programmes since
1986, during which time we have gained a reputation as a producer of
quality programmes with outstanding traction content. Although we use
the term 'modern traction', you will - as you browse through the pages
of our web site - notice that much of what we have on offer has in fact
now passed into history. The transition from the BR era to the current
privatised operation has witnessed a dramatic change in the motive power
scene, so the majority of our programmes therefore provide a nostalgic
trip down memory lane. Even the older titles in our news-based
'Traction' series contain scenes, workings and locomotives that are now
long gone.
With the re-issue of most of our older programmes onto DVD, all our
VHS titles have now been deleted. We occasionally receive enquiries
about which Locomaster programmes are no longer available on either VHS
or DVD, so for the record, the following titles are now obsolete: POWER
OF THE 20s, PEAK TWILIGHT, CROMPTON COUNTDOWN, GLORIOUS THROUGH DEVON,
FIFTIES AT WORK, CLASS 40 STORY, DELTIC WESTERN WHISTLER, DIESELS IN
PRESERVATION and the three MISCELLANY titles. Our advice to anyone
wishing to obtain any of these videos is to shop around for a
second-hand copy. They occasionally come up for sale on Ebay.
On the plus side, our range of titles is growing all the time. On our
website we have listed SELECTED highlights of each programme, as to have
listed the entire contents of each title would probably double the size
of our web site! We have also resisted the
temptation
to use the phrase 'plus much, much more' so please bear this in mind.
Another item worth mentioning here is the narration on our programmes.
If you prefer to enjoy the sound of locomotives hard at work without the
intrusion of ill-placed commentary, you can rest assured that we take
great care to ensure that your 'thrash' will not be interrupted.
Many of our programmes – particularly our cab-rides - have been
produced with the co-operation of various passenger and freight
operators within the rail industry. Their help has ensured that you the
viewer can experience various aspects of railway operation on the
national network and at various maintenance facilities. Many of the
programmes have since become a historical record. The list of companies
who have kindly accommodated our cameras over many years is considerable
– Railfreight Distribution, EWS, Virgin Trains, GB Railfreight,
Network Rail, Transrail, Freightliner, Mainline Freight, Valley Lines,
One Anglia, Great Western and Network Rail. We are indebted to them all.
COMMERCIAL WORK: Aside from our programmes for the enthusiast market,
we also undertake filming and production work for the railway industry,
locomotive preservation societies and heritage railways. Over the past
ten years our clients have included Virgin Trains, EWS, CrossCountry,
the Swanage Railway, the Bluebell Railway and the Fifty Fund.
