FREIGHT TRAFFIC & TRACTION: Former Virgin ‘Thunderbird’ 57302 working for DRS, former DRS locos 20311 and 20314 re-enter traffic for HNRC, Heavy Haul’s 70001 undergoing testing on the Great Central Railway, 33012 being moved from Southampton Docks to Eastleigh Works for repair, 56087 and 56302 re-enter traffic with Colas, 37606 + 37611 on Beattock with DRS’ 4S44 Daventry-Coatbridge intermodal, 56303 + 56311 working DB Schenker’s 6M11 Washwood Heath-Peak Forest stone empties, Network Rail Class 57s on nocturnal engineering trains and autumn RHTT duties in East Anglia, 37518 returns to the main line to travel from Carnforth to Fort William, 73205 + 73212 on the West Coast Main Line hauling two box wagons from Wolverton Works to Tonbridge, 31601 and 56312 on FGW stock moves from Kilmarnock. 

PASSENGER TRACTION, RAILTOURS & SPECIALS: 67006 piloting 6201 Princess Elizabeth on the Royal Train, 56311 + 56312 on the Peak Forest-Attercliffe stone, 50044 returns to south Devon working a GB Railfreight special from Cardiff, 57310 + a Class 377 EMU undergoing a coupling test run from Selhurst to Hove, the return to the main line of Deltic’s 55002 Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry and 55009 Alycidon, Class 73s towing a withdrawn Class 508 unit from Eastleigh Works to Southampton Docks, GBRf’s 92032 hauling a new rake of foreign-built tanks from Dollands Moor to London, 31601 + 31602 venture to South Wales with scrap wagons, 87017 + 87023 and 86217 being towed from Long Marston to Willesden prior to being sent abroad, 20304 + 20312 hauling a CWR set from Scunthorpe to York, Turkish-built 70099 arriving at Loughborough Works, 20189 emerges from Hastings in London Underground red, pairs of DRS Class 66s take over the Daventry-Mossend ‘Tesco Express’ from DB Schenker, GBRf’s 66737 on an inspection saloon, 56087 hauling five scrap classmates from Crewe to Kingsbury for breaking, 31128 returns to the main line re-painted in BR blue, and 73205 + 73206 towing London Underground’s Sarah Siddons from West Ruislip to Eastleigh Works.

THERE’S ALSO: 37259 + 37607 working DRS’ 4V38 Daventry-Wentloog intermodal, the Mid-Norfolk Class 47 gala celebrating 50 years of the Brush Type 4, the first Class 70 on the West Thurrock cement, 20901 +20905 receive GB Railfreight livery for the London Underground S stock moves, former Spanish exiles 37800 + 37884 being towed from Dollands Moor to Wembley, DCR’s 56312 and the Class 56 Group’s 56301 working the Didcot-Calvert flyash, Colas-liveried 86701 arriving at Euston on a freight trial from Daventry, 47580 hauling a rake of box wagons from Chaddesden to Shipley, West Coast’s 37676 working an engineers train from Hinksey Yard to Doncaster….and the only main line run in 2012 of D1015 Western Champion.
