FREIGHT TRAFFIC & TRACTION: 37401 Mary Queen of Scots returns to main line action with DRS; Colas’s 60096 working the Immingham-Santon iron ore; 70801 becomes the first of its Class to reach Colnbrook; Colas classmate 70802 being trialled on the Preston Docks bitumen; overhauled 60056 working the St Pancras-Ketton cement empties with its bodysides still in primer; recently-reinstated 56104 on the Calvert-Willesden spoil; 50007 Hercules & 50017 Royal Oak handle the Washwood Heath to Boston steel empties; the rare sight of a Class 56-hauled engineers train in East Sussex; GBRf’s 59003 Yeoman Highlander finally leaves Eastleigh Works; Colas take over the haulage of the Dalston tanks; a five loco convoy of Class 67s heading from Wembley to Dollands Moor for servicing; 70805 being trialled on the Carlisle to Chirk timber; pairs of GBRf Class 47s on the Drax to Hotchley Hill gypsum; Network Rail re-instates 31233 for test train duties; 37057, 37116 and 37421 all return to main line use with Colas; 92030 leaving Britain for Bulgaria...and Schenker’s 90040 is reinstated to traffic after a ten year absence!

PASSENGER TRACTION, RAILTOURS & SPECIALS: Traction variety on Serco’s Anglo-Scottish sleepers is provided by 47812, 66710, 86101 & Freightliner’s 90045; GWR-liveried 57605 working its first sleeper train in eight months; 73966 working empty sleeper stock from Polmadie to Edinburgh; Deltic 55022 in its latest guise as 55007 Pinza; GBRf’s ‘Noah’s Arc’ charity train from Edinburgh to Crewe featuring pairs of Class 20s, 47s and 66s; 67026 working an empty stock move on the re-opened Borders Railway to Tweedbank; 86259 celebrates its 50th birthday by returning to the main line; 20305 & 20308 venture into Devon...and the first HSTs to work into London Marylebone!

THERE’S ALSO: Electrostar moves between Ramsgate and Derby using DCR’s 31452, Freightliner’s 47830, UKRL’s 56104 and Europhoenix’s reinstated 37884; preserved 58016 being moved from Barrow Hill to Leicester; 56098 & 56104 hauling FGW Mark 3 stock from Laira to Kilmarnock; GBRf Class 20s on RHTT duties on the Tattenham Corner branch; 56301 hauling a London Midland Class 323 EMU from Tyseley to Soho; 66769 delivering the first Siemens-built Class 700 EMU to Three Bridges; three Eurotunnel Krupp diesel locomotives hauling a new Eurostar E320 over the HS1 route in Kent; 47712 returns to action at the Weardale Railway in original Scotrail livery...and the extraordinary sight of a pair of Hastings DEMU power cars dragging a Southeastern Electrostar from Canterbury West to Ramsgate!
