FREIGHT TRAFFIC & TRACTION: Freightliner acquires the small fleet of Class 59/2s as it takes over the Mendip stone traffic; five DB Cargo Class 66s go on long-term hire to DRS; 57304 rescuing a failed Freightliner at Atherstone; the rare sight of 20118 & 20132 on a departmental working on the Great Western Main Line; Freightliner’s 70015 on hire to Colas working the Dalston tanks; GBRf’s 60096 on hire to DCR to work ballast trains; overhauled DCR Class 60s on their test runs; 73109 & 73136 hauling a rake of coal hoppers around Kent; BR blue 20096 & 20107 working DCR’s Basford Hall-Longport spoil; Colas Rail’s 37057 hauling a rail train from Kenton to Crewe; Pullman-liveried 67021 & 67024 delivering a rake of new GBRf wagons to Wembley; 66711 on an engineers train on the Exmouth branch...and the final autumn of DRS Class 20s on RHTT duties.

PASSENGER TRACTION, RAILTOURS & SPECIALS: The final day of Class 37/4 haulage in East Anglia; LNER locos 91117 & 91120 in Europhoenix livery heading to Leicester; Locomotive Services returns 37667 to the main line and then purchases 86101 & 87002; two back-to-back HST power cars towing the stock of the Night Riviera sleepers; DB Cargo’s 67025 receives the new Transport for Wales livery; 66199 hauling the very last train out of the closed Cottam Power Station; 50008 Thunderer working its first railtour in nearly 30 years; the final Class 90-hauled Caledonian Sleeper service with Mark 3 stock…and extensive coverage of LNER’s spectacular four-day farewell to the Inter-City 125 High Speed Train featuring a complete retro-liveried set.
