ON THE GRADE – 37 886 struggling up Camberley bank with a 1,500-tonne ballast, 31 233 & 31 285 climbing the Lickey with Network Rail’s HST in tow, BR blue 56 006 screaming its way up Warsett Hill on the Boulby branch, D1015 storming Luxulyan Valley on china clay CDA’s, 40 145 tackling the Camp Hill incline, Class 60s on Appleby bank with iron ore and coal workings. CLASSIC TRACTION BACK ON THE MAIN LINE – 55 019 decimating Bridge of Orchy, 40 145 breasting Lickey summit, 50 031 & 50 049 pounding through Cheltenham, 33 202 ‘flaming’ over the Chiltern’s, D1015 Western Champion returns to Cornwall. PASSENGER & RAILTOUR ‘THRASH’ – 56 107 on the Lickey with a Virgin CrossCountry service, 47 295 clagging out of Brundall, 47 813 performing a standing start on a diverted Liverpool Street-Norwich service, 31 452 on Camberley bank, 33 103 storming Exeter Central, 31 190 & 31 602 on the ‘Royal Scotsman’. CLAG CORNER – a collection of spectacular clag shots featuring Deltic’s and Class 37s. STANDING STILL BUT SOUNDING LOUD – serious thrash from 56 081 as it undergoes ‘load bank’ testing. THE PROGRAMME CONCLUDES with an extraordinary scene on the Birch Coppice branch featuring Loadhaul-liveried 37 698.
