Power Hour 9
Wrapping up a series that has run for 22 years is the ninth
and final ‘POWER HOUR’ programme. This volume sticks to the winning
formula of the previous eight editions - main line diesel locos hard at
work on the national rail network, where each scene has one or more of
the following ingredients - full-on power, stiff gradients or standing
starts. With some added clag and wheelslip, the result is a series of
spectacular shots filmed over a ten-year period from 2011 to 2021. The
programme (which actually runs for 90 minutes) features no fewer than 80
different main line locos - old and new - on a diverse range of workings
from around the country. They include…
FREIGHT WORKINGS: 50008 thundering along the WCML with a rail
grinder in tow, 37099 & 37418 & 97304 triple-heading a Cambrian ballast,
68006 on the Mountsorrel-Carlisle ballast, 56302 opening up under
Paisley Gilmour Street’s glass roof, 60015 performing a standing start
on the Scunthorpe-Lackenby steel slabs, 56081 clagging away from Melton
Mowbray, 56094 screaming up Llanvihangel bank on the Baglan Bay-Chirk
