Power Hour 7

Like its six predecessors in the Power Hour series, this programme features a variety of main line diesel locos hard at work on the national rail network - as well as a bonus shot from Hungary! A combination of full-on power, stiff gradients and standing starts combine to produce some spectacular scenes. And there’s no shortage of clag either. Filmed over a six year period from 2012 to 2017, this DVD comprises a mix of old and new main line traction and includes...

FREIGHT WORKINGS: Pairs of Riviera Class 47s powering GBRf’s Drax gypsum trains, 56078 & 56105 storming Whiteball with timber for Chirk, 50007 blasting through Attenborough with the Boston steel, Chiltern-liveried 68013 getting to grips with the Mountsorrel to Basford Hall ballast, 60066 performing a standing start with the 3,000 tonne Kingsbury tanks, pairs of Class 20s wide open on London Underground S Stock moves, a defective 66616 clagging out Brocklesby, 70804 screaming through Wellington hauling a loaded rail train, Class 56s hard at work on the Willesden-Calvert spoil, 37688 wheel slipping away from Tyndrum Upper...and 31601 & 31602 storming along the Severn estuary with a lengthy rake of box wagons.

PASSENGER WORKINGS & RAILTOURS: DRS Class 37s on full power working Greater Anglia’s Wherry Line services, 55022 tackling the climb away from Glenfinnan with the ‘Royal Scotsman’, 20309 thrashing away from Syon Lane with the ‘Buffer Puffer 12.0’ railtour, 57309 performing a ‘full on’ departure from Euston with a Pendolino in tow, 68008 blasting out of Marylebone, 56087 pounding through Garforth with the ‘Scarborough Spa Express’, 37401 shattering the tranquillity of Ravenglass with a Northern Rail service to Carlisle, 50007 & 50050 powering away from Dorridge, 40145 tackling the stiff inclines of Copy Pit and Peak Forest, D1015 blasting through Gilberdyke...and Classes 37 and 47 doing battle with the Lickey!

POWER HOUR 7 features 14 different locomotive classes - 20, 31, 37, 40, 47, 50, 52, 55, 56, 57, 60, 66, 68 and 70 – hard at work on a variety of passenger and freight duties. Please note that although some of the workings may seem familiar, none of the scenes featured in PH7 appear in any other Locomaster programme.
