BEHIND THE SCENES AND OTHER MISCELLANEOUS TITLES
Listed under this category are those programmes which do not come under the
three other series
headings. But don’t let that put you off - there’s some fascinating viewing
to be had including two
exclusive ‘behind the scenes’ profiles on two of Britain’s most famous
diesel traction maintenance
depots - Toton and Bristol Bath
Road. These are two contrasting programmes; Bath
Road closed
in May 1995 and this video records 36 hours in the life of the former Inter City
depot while the Toton programme is a fascinating documentary on how EWS
maintains the UK’s largest fleet of diesel locomotives.
Also in the ‘miscellaneous’ category are two main line cab rides - ‘Capital
Crompton’ and ‘Capital Syphons’. These are not ‘Wired for Sound’
titles, but two fascinating journeys across London’s rail network, the routes
of which are so complex that they will have you reaching for your rail atlas!
Two programmes on diesel preservation are also to be found here - ‘Diesels
in Preservation’ and its accompanying cab-ride companion ‘Deltic, Western,
Whistler’. If you’re into serious ‘thrash’, then two titles well worth
checking out are ‘Stay of Execution’ and the awesome ‘Power Hour’
